Stoneware pottery from Germany

These jugs and tankards are typical examples of a type of pottery made in the Westerwald area of the central Rhineland. Finds of imported German stonewares like these are very common in Exeter, reflecting the great import trade in household goods during the boom years of the Devon cloth industry in the years 1660-1750.
