This engraved silver badge of merit was awarded to Henry John Hartnell in July 1923 for his role in saving the city flour mills from devastation by fire.
The obverse depicts the coat of arms of the city with the inscription 'EXETER CITY FIRE BRIGADE, MERIT'.
