The Mary Harris Memorial Chapel of 1958 was the last of the group of new university buildings laid out according to a plan of Vincent Harris of 1931.
Perhaps the most striking feature of its interior is its ceiling by Sir Thomas Monnington (1902-76), with its curving interlocking patterns in blues, white and purple. Monnington's series of drawings for the ceiling, including the example shown here, is held by the museum.
