This coin of the Emperor Nero (AD 54-68) was found beside the Plymouth Inn in Alphington Road in 1909. It is an as which is the lowest denomination of early Roman coin found in Britain. The reverse, seen here, shows the temple of Janus. The obverse (heads) shows Nero’s portrait with his imperial titles,
