Roman coin found in Union Road (obverse)
Back to Time PeriodThis fine sestertius, struck in Rome for the emperor Severus Alexander (AD 222-35), was found in Union Road in 1878; the exact findspot was not recorded. The obverse here shows the bearded emperor wearing a laurel wreath, with his imperial titles IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG. On the reverse side is Hope personified, holding a flower and raising her skirt.
