Roman coin found in Union Road (reverse)
Back to Time PeriodThis fine sestertius, struck in Rome for the emperor Severus Alexander (AD 222-35), was found in Union Road in 1878. The exact findspot was not recorded. On the reverse, seen here, is Hope personified, holding a flower and raising her skirt. The obverse shows the bearded emperor wearing a laurel wreath, with his imperial titles IMP ALEXANDER PIVS AVG.
