Bamfylde House, Exeter

Bamfylde House, Exeter

This second view of the small courtyard of Bamfylde House, enclosed on three sides by its ranges of rooms, was drawn by H.H. Halliday in 1909. At the centre of the view on the ground floor is the fine series of windows whose armorial glass survived until the Blitz of 1942. To its left can be seen a tank of cast lead; about a dozen of these tanks dating to the 17th and 18th centuries have been recorded in the city.
