Port Royal, Exeter

This etching by the local artist FM Hayman was prepared in 1930. It looks across the river Exe from the area of the Canal Basin to the Port Royal, with the papermaking factory at Trew’s Weir in the distance. Since the 1930s many of the buildings shown have been cleared and the paper factory converted to housing.
